It is a member of spinosyns class of insecticides, which are non-antibacterial tetracyclic macrolides. When treated with Spinosad, insects show involuntary muscle contractions and tremors resulting from activation of motor neurons. This results in paralysis and flea death. Comfortis protects adult cats and kittens from flea infestation for 30 days. Keep this drug out of reach of children and pets. Not for human consumption. Store it in a cool and dry place. Warning Not for human use. Use of Comfortis in breeding, pregnant or lactating cats has not been evaluated. Contraindications There are no known contraindications for the use of Comfortis in cats. What are the possible side effects of Comfortis: Side effects that may occur include vomiting. If vomiting occurs within one hour of administration, re-dose with another full dose. Other side effects may occur. Discontinue giving Comfortis chewable tablets and talk to your veterinarian if your pet experiences decreased appetite, lethargy or decreased activity, diarrhea, cough, increased thirst, vocalization, increased appetite, redness of the skin, hyperactivity and excessive salivation.
